SPEAKER
Nicole Gastelewicz, Business Account Manager, and Ursula Warren,
Community Affairs Manager from Consumers Energy, spoke about the services available to businesses through the relationship with Consumer Energy.
Energy Efficiency: Consumers Power will give rebates and discounts to businesses that replaces or upgrades equipment which will improve efficiency.
They will do site visits to consult on how to reduce costs and improve energy efficiency at business sites.
Economic Development – Consumers Energy provides resources that can help with hiring staff and other support to help business thrive.
Third Party Energy Providers – How the gas comes from Consumers Energy but the distribution may come from a third party. The objective is to save energy costs over the year however these costs savings are often not realized from year to year. Consumers Energy on average is less expensive over time than going through a third party.
Ursula Warren is a community affairs manager and she will come to a business site to troubleshoot any problems happening in the area.
A question was asked is it really better to turn down/up your temperature daily when no one is at home. Small changes in temp can help to save energy, however big shifts in temp can actually use more energy and be inefficient.
