The meeting began around 12:15 p.m. and was led by President Julie Miller.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Elizabeth Wilson which was followed by the national anthem.
Tom Welsh led us with “The Four-Way Test” and Bob Lee delivered the prayer.
Lunch today was sausage with onion and peppers, roasted redskin potatoes, green beans, the standard garden salad, and dessert was cream puffs.
GUESTS
Darryl Langeness, our speaker, Paula Studaker and Linda Burger, all three of whom were guests of Joyce Foehr.
Gideon guest of Valerie Miller
BIRTHDAYS, ANNIVERSARIES & FLOWERS
While there were birthdays and anniversaries, the honorees were not in attendance, so many flowers hit the auction block. Gary bought one for Tina, Joyce Foehr purchased one for each of her guests. Tom Welsh bought Joyce one. I purchased one for Larry Neal. That was all I had, I likely missed a few.
SONGS
Valerie Miller led us in song and chose “Deep in the Heart of Texas” to be the first song. Then after a long story about why her boat wasn’t in the water, she followed up “All Hail to Rotary.”
RECOGNITION
Nancy Dedenbach started out hitting Valerie Miller with a fine for talking about her boat in the middle of songs. Joyce Foehr was recognized as most missed Rotarian. Finally, there was a short quiz regarding material from the Rotarian magazine, which I am not sure netted any fines, but was educational.
SPEAKER PRESENTATION
Our speaker was Darryl Langeness, who is a life coach. He gave a deeply personal presentation in which he relayed how he lost both his father and stepfather at a young age and it wasn’t until they passed that he realized how little he knew each of them. Realization of this fact was clear when over 200 people visited each of the funerals. Many conversations with attendees at the funerals showed that many lives were touched by both fathers in his life. He talked about three things: Transfer, Teachability and Value. Value he seemed to refer to as being something one possesses that should be passed on and that the act of passing on said value is Transfer. Finally that one should be teachable in order to receive the value.
