Welcome to Rotary!

We had to do a little rearranging today and adding of some seats in the small classroom today, but despite all that, Karan called the meeting to order at 12:16 p.m. Amanda Oparka led us today with the Pledge of Allegiance and the national anthem. Nancy Dedenbach lead us in “The Four-Way Test” and Kristine Howell led us in prayer. We changed it up a little for lunch today and it was served family style (which is fine unless you get the food passed to you right after Eric cleans up the rest of the serving tray!) The food that did make it to me was great, with bread, salad the standard green beans, pasta, chicken, beef, and potatoes.

RECOGNITION

Glenn Burton was handling recognition today and was firing off the fines left and right so I might have missed one or two.

He started by fining everyone who was out of town in the past month for various amounts determined, possibly by distance, but it seemed slightly random Glenn! This included Nancy, Bob Cannon, Kris Howell, Dave Meldrum, Doug Norris, Dana Camphous-Peterson, and Jeff Furest.

Val Miller got a fine for her costume last week causing stress for the people placed in jail during recognition.

Gary was fined $5 for pleading the fifth for a possible “thing” going on with Tina based on his flower purchasing habits.

Yours truly was fined for not having the bell ringing location on the sign up sheet even though it was clearly announced during announcements.

Ray Glime was fined but I didn’t catch the reason ... might have been the joke he told though!

Jeff and Eric were fined for their hunting success (or possible success in Eric’s case)
Larry was fined for not agreeing with the paper on his correct club anniversary (even though we proved Larry to be right during our Clubrunner lesson)

Bob Lee was fined for his non-Rotary announcement and for his bow tie being a little askew.

Ken Steele was fined for not having the music books on one of the tables.

Each of the members who recommended beneficiaries were fined $1.

Bob Cannon was fined for his non-Rotary announcements

SPEAKER AND PROGRAM

We talked today about technology as it pertains to Rotary and how we can use it to help promote the club and to make it easier to get in touch with other members.

ClubRunner
Please download the mobile club runner app from the app store or Google play store
The most important thing is that we can all get on - contact Val for password problems.
You can see the whole club roster with everyone’s information.
You can also see the events schedule, speakers, and other important announcements.

Social media
This includes Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
Our club has followers for these platforms from all over the world.
If you are on these different services please make sure that you like the posts and other announcements. This will help boost the position on other people’s feeds.
When events are up please say that you are attending to help others want to attend the events too (if they know you’re going they’ll probably want to be there!)
TAKE PICTURES!

Any events that you attend, please take pictures and post them yourself or send them to Steve Krankota to post. This will help others see all the great things that Rotary does and possibly make others want to be a part of Rotary.

If you have questions, ask Steve, Val, Karan, or any of wonderfully helpful Rotarians for help!

Amanda Oparka won the 50/50
