We came together today on a rainy Thursday and our fearless leader Karan called our meeting to order today at 12:15 p.m. I wasn't ready to pay attention yet and didn't catch who led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and the national anthem, but it was definitely a rousing rendition. We had a delicious lunch with salad, garlic bread, potatoes, stuffed chicken, cauliflower, and some chocolate cake.

Our ENTIRE money making items are completely paid for! More information will be forthcoming on the Jack Daniels destination experience considering this funding is complete.
Additionally, in working with McLaren Macomb Foundation and Dana Camphous-Peterson and her resources, Steve Krankota and the YMCA and his resources, the fundraising committee can confirm they have secured up toward $60,000 in services to promote the event, including a comprehensive website dedicated to our annual funding purposes. Website services provided by Hunch Free, promotion and media services provided by Executive Mark Hackel's media production office and Mad Hat Media.
Since our planning launch in August, given cash contributions, concessions and abatements and provided services, we have in excess of $230,000 in resources thus far in our goal of achieving 350 in attendance and a net $100,000 for our beneficiaries! In this regard with this latest generous donor, we now have a clear goal toward raising $150,000!

SPEAKER AND PROGRAM
Doug Wozniak our state representative was our speaker for today. He is an attorney who practices in Shelby Township. He was elected to the 36th district in 2008. In his early years in office he helped stop spending and was able to get rid of all the debt. He then was able to build a police department, two fire departments, and a library by paying cash for all of them and not incurring any debt! They have also been able to invest $500,000/year and use that money to improve the roads in the area.
In his law practice, he specializes in elder law, real estate law, Medicare/Medicaid, estate planning, veterans planning. His group has no charge for advice which helps people to at least get the information that they need in many areas of law so they can know the best thing to do for things like estate planning and health insurance issues among other important topics.
Doug is on multiple committees in the legislature. He is on the Judiciary Committee where he helped to change the age to 17 for criminals to go to the regular jail and be housed with other juvenile inmates. They have a goal of teaching people who committed crimes to become a regular person again so they can go back to society and be contributors. After 10 years, nonviolent crimes come off their record to help with employment. Once they are in society this helps increase earning and productivity by 25%.
Mr. Wozniak is on a committee for medical spending. He helped to end surprise billing so that patients will no longer get a surprise bill after hospital stays or surgery. Non emergencies will give charges up front before procedures. Also he placed extended care facilities adjacent to ASCs for any short term hospital needs after surgical procedures which saves the patient money compared to full hospital admission.
The legislature is having discussions with the governor on budget. The governor recently had 147 vetos for $1.6 billion budget modifications. This is causing many problems with money for state programs and they are working to resolve these issues as quickly as possible.

The newly minted 90-year-old, Paul Woodring, won the 50/50.
