WELCOME TO ROTARY!

Thursday’s meeting was called to order at 12:17 p.m. by President Jeff Furest. Eric Pierson then lead us in The Pledge of Allegiance. Sarah Lee gave us the prayer and Don Carnaghi recited “The Four-Way Test.” Jeff Furest pointed out the gavel he was using was first used in 1970.

LECTURE

Our speaker, Phil Gilchrist, is the executive director of the ANTON ART CENTER in Mount Clemens. He has directed the center since 2015.

This year’s challenge has been operating the center online. Normally there are parties and events the public comes to which raise money for the Art Center. Although the center is in good shape financially, it was necessary to keep up the contact with art-loving public.

With the help of several parties, a virtual gallery has been set up with over 1,500 entries of artwork. The submissions are reproduced with very high technical quality. Through September 24, a silent auction is going on. The website can be reached at www.theartcenter.org. If one goes to the photo gallery, one will see exactly what the current displays are in the Art Center.

50/50

Jeff Furest won $28.

Meeting was adjourned at 1:16 p.m.
