The meeting was called to order at 12:20 p.m. Elizabeth Wilson led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and the national anthem. After, Ken Steele led us in “The Four-Way Test.”
Our prayer was given by Sarah Lee and lunch followed. Today, we enjoyed breaded chicken, broiled potatoes, broccoli, Caesar salad, and ice cream for dessert!

Our guests were announced by Nancy Dedenbach
Today, we had a lot of guests! Janet Ball was a guest of Glenn Burton. Paula Studaker (a future member) was guest of Joyce Foehr. We also had our beneficiary guests: from Turning Point - Sara Ladensack and Christina Boyland. From Discovery Center - Monika Rittner and Trevor Kirkum. From Single Family Living - Jerilynn Hunley and Jamie LaPorte. From Bravo Programs - Ellen Lysik and Jerry Filipik.
CLUB BUSINESS OF THE DAY
- We will not be meeting for the next two Thursdays. Next week is the President’s Party and the following week is the 4th of July break. As a result, this was the last meeting that Julie Miller would be leading us … thank you Julie for being such an awesome president! We look forward to celebrating you next week!
- Kathleen Best was not in attendance today but wanted to let us know that she is looking for at least 10 more people to sign up for the boat outing so that we reach our minimum with the caterer. If you have not signed up yet and plan on attending, please do so ASAP!
MUSIC
Today’s music was led by Jessie. Our first song was “Happy Days Are Here Again.” And our Rotary song was “Sing A Song to Rotary!”
BIRTHDAYS & ANNIVERSARIES
We had no birthdays today. Stephanie Mirabile celebrated her 14th wedding anniversary on June 15. Joe Casasanta celebrated his 10th anniversary in the club on June 16.

RECOGNITION
Tom Davies started by actually giving a refund (with interest) to Elizabeth Wilson. He fined her last week for a new pair of shoes…but forgot that she did help him. Tom came to the meeting in a new pair of shorts and forgot to take off the size sticker on his rear end. She saved him the embarrassment of being fined for that. So he refunded her $2 and gave her an extra $1 in interest. Good job Dad!
Tom has some sticky fingers and managed to steal keys from Sam and our guest Monika Rittner. He sold back the keys to both for $3. Monika was a good sport (guests are not required to pay) and happily paid the fine!
Joe Casasanta was the most missed Rotarian, even though he was only gone for a couple of weeks. $2 was the cost for missing!
Tom Welsh was fined $2 for his New York socks worn in honor of the Knicks victory parade today.
Sarah Lee was fined one last time before she became president. Her fine was to be sure she started the meetings on time! Bob Lee was also fined $5 (per his request) because he was just so happy to be back at the club. He missed it while away recovering from surgery.
And finally, Sam Wireman was recognized for his new baby, Julian Anthony, born on May 31. Julian is growing, happy and healthy! He agreed to pay $3 in honor of his new blessing!

PROGRAM
Today our club honored our beneficiaries. Sam Wireman, as president of our foundation, introduced each of the five beneficiaries. After a picture, each group was able to say a few words. The money we were able to award these great organizations came from our Mount Clemens Rotary Foundation as well as the Macomb County Rotary Foundation.
This year’s beneficiaries included:
Discovery Center…award was presented to Monika Rittner and Trevor Kirkum. Monika talked a little bit about the upcoming joint service club meeting we have next Wednesday.
Turning Point…award was presented to Sara Ladensack and Christina Boyland. Turning Point continues to work with victims of domestic violence in our community. The money will go to help continue to support their mission.
Bravo Programs…award was presented to Ellen Lysik and Jerry Filipik. This award will go to help the beneficiaries of scholarships to buy books and other items needed to complete their studies. Bravo supports foster children who have aged out of the system. In 2025, Bravo presented over $66,000 in scholarships to 43 students.
YMCA…award was presented to Malachi Taylor. This award will continue to support Y for All. This is a scholarship given to families in need who cannot afford a YMCA membership. The money will help with swimming lessons, purchase of lifejackets and other benefits given at the YMCA.
Single Family Living…award was presented to Jamie LaPorte. This award will go toward working on eradicating illiteracy in our community.
Congratulations to all of our beneficiaries!
