SPEAKER AND PROGRAM
Today we had the honor of listening to Kate Mazzara, who is the adult services librarian at the CMPL South Branch located at 15 ½ Mile and Gratiot in Clinton Township. She certainly committee for the Michigan Book of the Year award winners.
Background: She is an adult services librarian at the Clinton Macomb Public Library. She was a flight attendant for a brief period of time before returning for another stint of work at the Macomb Library. She says that the similarity from the library to being a flight attendant is working with public. She speaks Spanish and Italian. Her brother got the Rotary scholarship awarded to him to attend Macomb College. He now works in robotics.
Award for the Library of Michigan: The library of admission again coordinates many services for the state libraries throughout Michigan. Twenty books pertaining to the State of Michigan are awarded each year. These books have to have an author who spent time in Michigan or the books need to have a subject about Michigan to be considered. 300 books were in the running this year and Kate said that she read about 100 books herself for award consideration.
