On a wet and grey Thursday afternoon at about 12:15 p.m. President Larry Neal called the meeting to order. Steve Krankota led us in the Pledge of Allegiance; a full room of members and guests sang the national anthem. Rotarian of the Week Ray Glime led us in reciting “The Four-Way Test,” and Bill Patterson led us in prayer.
As always, lunch was wonderful. We enjoyed salad, mostaccioli, green beans and chicken Marsala. For those indulging in dessert, there was a table filled with white cake with a white frosting and fruit filling.
Our President kicked off the business portion of the meeting announcing that Mary Ann Hosey is the new club sergeant.
He then introduced Diane Banks, Leadership Macomb Director, who in turn introduced two of the three recipients of the Junior Leadership Macomb Scholarships: Fran and Josh. Both of the students introduced themselves, explained how much fun the program was and thanked the club for the scholarship.
President Neal gave a brief preview for next week's meeting, explaining that George Murphy will highlight the Mount Clemens Grand Prix Soap Box Derby.
He also reminded members that the meeting on August 30 will be a field trip to the Clinton-Macomb Main Public Library.

RECOGNITION
Art Niederkohr made quite the dent in Rotarians’ pockets with a few individual fines and quiz. First he went to Cecilia Moloney to level the playing field after her husband beat him in a ping pong match at the boat outing. Then it was on to Kelly Allen; Art explained that another Rotarian's wife received an emailed addressed to his ex-wife from an alumnus’ company working with L'Anse Creuse. Kelly was not only red with embarrassment but she was $4.99 in the red. Art quickly moved on to Mark Zuccaro, Ryan Murphy and Joe Casasanta and fined them for not having any mention of Rotary in the web presence. Mark was fined twice this week, the second time for not being present to accept his perfect attendance award. Finally, it was time for the quiz. Some members paid out for answering incorrectly but all members walked away with more useful Rotarian knowledge, the most impressive that there are 33,000 Rotary clubs in the world.

PRESENTATION
Kelly Allen introduced our guest speaker, Jeremy Allen. Jeremy is a television and podcast producer at WDIV in Detroit. He spoke to meeting attendees about the investigation and process of creating his first podcast “Shattered: Black Friday.”
The podcast is about three boys that went missing on Black Friday in 2010. For nearly eight years, their father has sat in jail telling stories to police. Unfortunately none have helped the authorities recover the boys. Jeremy explained the many people he has talked to including the boys' mother, the lead investigators, and the father's family in an effort to bring new light to an open case. While police say they are closer than ever to solving the case they aren't there yet.
