The last full meeting of the calendar year was rang to order at 12:16 by Acting President Scott Chabot, filling in for the vacationing/ tanning President Jeff Furest.

AP Scott announced the Christmas party, in lieu of our meeting next week will be 12/15, 6:30 at Testa Barra 30675 N. River Road. Harrison Township for $65 PP, bar included. I put out a challenge to all those attending to wear a goofy Xmas sweater - Holiday Festive attire - Those who don't will be fined next month guaranteed.

Ellen Lysik gave a holiday greeting and lead us in the Pledge and national anthem with Piano Gary accompanying. Amanda Oparka boldly announced “The Four-Way Test.” Past Pres. Bob Lee in his sister’s absence gave the invocation for the holidays coming up.

After a meal of chicken Parmesan, red pasta, IACC green beans, salad — and a two-layer cake, served by our hostess Tina, for dessert.

  • AP Scott's announcements were assisted by traveling Julie Huttenlocher, reminding us of the Xmas party.
  •
  • We are in need of speakers for later in the winter months - so speak up.
  •
  • Board elections will be held next month with the slate to be determined at the next board meeting.
  •
  • Christine LaTour was recognized for her great fundraising efforts in the PolioPlus ($600) and Salvation Army bell ringing ($870). Congrats to all involved.

Amanda O introduced our Guests & Visitors - MaKaya Gardner of the Mount Clemens YMCA and Jan "Lady in Red" Davies. Seems Tom Davies has a problem on the spelling of his last name, in the log. Past Pres.

Val Miller announced B-days to Tom Sokol and Don Carnaghi-wife, another year younger.

Val continued with flowers. Ellen L sent two to hostess Tina, and Ken Steele. Piano Gary also sent two flowers to Jan D and Julie H, beating Tom D to the punch. Bob L also sent two flowers to the ladies at his table. Not to be outdone, Louise Rallis also ponied up for two going to the scribe and Val M for her festive attire.

For music, Tom D guided us through "Rotary My Rotary" with help from P. Gary. Old school, William Furest mentioned "I love sexist songs.”

Julie H asked for announcements.

  • Power meeting broker Kathleen Best spoke of a free lunch at Sherwood Brewing Company for all teachers from 12-3 daily, in honor of the tragedy in Oxford.
  •
  • Bob L mentioned a new COVID shot on the market.
  •
  • Julie H thanked all that have donated to Turning Point as our holiday charity, so get your $$$ to Julie.

For recognition, Julie spotted lipstick on Ken S cheek was worthy of a $2 smack. Julie promoted a Daddy/Daughter fine for her trip to Iceland $5. Impeccably-dressed Bob L ancient Christmas tie, complete with tie stain cleaned him for $2. The scribe was singled out for a very festive sweater, of which Julie, in her giving spirit, fined my tablemates Louise R $2 & Bill 1st $3 for the honor of my company. In closing, Julie did a happy dance that her Wolverines FINALLY BEAT OSU. Not be outdone, the MSU alumni, P. Gary and Mary Ann Hosey gladly paid $4 for reminding Julie - "Who beat Who?"

An annual tradition, going back 27 years —  because of Mary Ann H’s involvement with her
son and daughter — the Fraser High School holiday singers provided a festive holiday program! With 34 strong between freshmen to seniors, they sang the following: “Awake My Soul”, “Carol of the Bells” (a fan favorite), duet of “Baby it’s Cold Outside”, “Snow Fall”, a Bob Dylan classic “Ring Them Bells”, a duet of “I’ll be Home for Christmas”, a solo of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, Frank Sinatra's “We Wish you the Merriest” of Christmas, and a closer of “Silent Night, Holy Night.” The choir was given a standing ovation that put us all in a holiday mood.
