PRESIDENTIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Our new president has known of Rotary since 1956 when her father joined. She had admired our club and joined by 2000. She was club president in 2010 so this is her second term.
She listed her three goals:
- 1) Nurture new members to be future leaders.
- 2) Increase visibility in the community by being present at the soap box derby, the Santa parade, bell ringing for Salvation Army and other public events. We need to wear our Rotary badges in public.
- 3) Do things with other Rotary clubs in the area and attend the district conference in Frankenmuth.
An example of our good work was repairing the elevator in The Anton Art Center. A video was shown about that project.

LECTURE

Our speaker was introduced by
Scott Chabot. She was Karen Smith of LEADERSHIP MACOMB Inc. She is the executive director of a program that educates leaders. They go through an 11-month program which consists of a full day of classes once a month. It is an immersive experience for professionals ready to expand their understanding of Macomb County systems, challenges and opportunities. People often network through this program. Ken Steele and Julie Miller had the honor of attending a few years ago and met someone who brought them to a Rotary function where they became interested in our club. Now they are both beloved members of our Rotary Club. Annually about 50 people sign up for the training course. In fact Scott Chabot got to know our speaker thru attending the course as well.
Meeting was adjourned at 1:20 p.m.
