LECTURE
The club president introduced Salli Dawson of Michigan Works. She is in charge of Registered Apprenticeships for Macomb County. This program matches would be apprentices with prospective employers. The employers give class room training and on the job training. The apprentices also get paid full time wages throughout the program. Some programs like electricians can take four years before the student gets a journeyman card. Though originally set up as a trades program, there are now other types of job training programs. The program is paid by grant money so no taxpayer funds are used. Registered partnerships is an industry driven high quality pathway where employers can develop and prepare their future workforce and the program is validated by the U.S. Department of Labor.
