As always, President Larry Neal rang the bell promptly at 12:15 to start our first meeting in May.
Sam D'Angelo, a newly named district governor's assistant, led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and the national anthem with piano man Gary on the keyboards.
Gloria Murray started us off on “The Four-Way Test” and Julie Huttenlocher gave the pre-meal prayer, wishing the best for her dad, Tom, who is recovering from surgery and the week's victims of heavy rains which have left dozens of county residents with flooded basements.
Lunch included seasoned chicken and gravy, pasta, mashed potatoes, green beans (of course), two salads and a selection of cakes for dessert.
- President Larry encouraged all to get tickets to the May 17 fundraiser and then introduced Tom Neveau, a current district governor's assistant who detailed District 6380 events for 2019 and 2020. He provided a nicely arranged card with events and dates. Sarah Lee will attend this year's international convention in Germany and have our club's voting rights.
-
- President Larry gave information on services and visitation for Bob Baker (May 10 visitation 2-8 p.m. at Lee-Ellena Funeral home; Mass at 10:30 a.m., May 11 at St. Louis Catholic Church) and also noted that Julie will pass out raffle tickets for us to sell (or purchase).
Steve Krankota welcomed our guests, which included, in addition to Mr. Neveau, our speaker Ryan Lesperance and his wife Gina.
The lovely Mary Ann Hosey was our flower lady. Birthdays were announced for Ellen Lysik and Ryan Murphy's wife, Michelle. Wedding anniversaries: Don and Laura Carnaghi, Frank and Sharon Bernabei, Tom and Jan Davies. The remaining flowers went quickly to Keith Lesperance's wife, Ellen Lysik, Julie Miller and Julie Huttenlocher.
Our music director was Kelly Allen, who is still collecting booze and restaurant gifts cards for the fundraiser. She selected "Give My Regards to Broadway" and "R-O-T-A-R-Y."

Our boating outing is set for Aug. 8 so save the date.
Art Niederkohr reminded us of the park cleanup in
Mount Clemens on May 11.

Nancy Dedenbach hit quickly and often with fines. Keith Lesperance for
most-missed, Stephanie Mirabile for a trip to the Cayman Islands to attend a wedding, Mashell Carissmi for taking part in a dancing competition for charity and Dave Meldrum for carrying three desserts to his table, even though he ate only one.
Nancy then went on a table-by-table history quiz with questions that virtually ended up costing most of us $2.

Our speaker was Ryan Lesperance, CEO and brand therapist of
SMASH/CREATIVE. He has 20 years' experience in marketing and brand consulting. His father, Keith owns Lee Printing and Ryan spent many hours learning about business at the facility.
He gave an inspirational speech about the good practices he learned from his father, Keith, a current member of our club, and his late grandfather, who was also a member.
Core values, stressing that employees should be treated as family members, are a key to running a successful business.
He told an interesting story about how as a young married man he was offered a $1,200 dishwasher for only $600. Knowing it must have been stolen, he rejected the offer, a decision he said set him on a path to "do the right thing."
Ryan is also the author of "The Shuggeffect,” available on Amazon.
His methods of maximizing business potential have been shared with Randazzo Fresh Market, Total Life Changes, American Home Fitness and many other companies.
The 50/50, worth a hefty $45, was won by Nancy Dedenbach.
Happy Birthday!
