On a windy and  somewhat warm day the "The" Mount Clemens Rotary met again at the Italian American Cultural Center. Almost every seat was taken due to that fact that it was "MONEY DAY” — according to our president, Jeff Furest. This was one of the author's favorite meetings, since it was the efforts of our fundraising for the year, that came to fruition. Ten groups were the recipients of our clubs generosity. The club grossed over $200,000 and $160,000 netted for our foundations and the local charities we support.
Along with inducting a new member!

At 12:14 Pres Jeff rang us to order, with a quote from Mother Theresa, to get us started. Dana Camphous lead us in the Prayer & Pledge. The ever-faithful Piano Gary was spot on for the music. Steve Krankota belted out “The Four-Way Test.” Past Pres. Bob Lee gave a two-part prayer acknowledging the meal and tragic victims and families of the Oxford High School shootings.

Chief Hostess Tina provided us with a meal of roast beef & gravy, World Famous Green Beans, roasted potatoes, tossed salad, rolls and tasty three-layer cake, of which Eric Pierson cleaned all three plates.

Our presidential announcements consisted of the Christmas party, has been moved to 12/15 from 12/16, so there will be no meeting on the 16th. The party can be billed your account. Next week we will  have the ever-popular Fraser High Holiday Singers, courtesy of Scott Chabot. The next full meeting will be January 6. Pres. Jeff thanked Scott C & Steve K for filling in for him on his many travels.

Kim Jarvis handled the induction reading to Sam Wiseman - complete with new badge (someone is on the ball.) Sam came to know Rotary in high school and is looking forward to getting involved in the community in which he lives and practices.

Ed Mastry masterfully read the list of visitors, of which were — Jasmine Hurley, Wyanette Holmes, Ross “Rosco The Clown” Champion, April Fidler, MaKaeyan Gardner, Janet Wolf, Past Mayor-Barb Dempsey, Kristin Boulell, Lisa Marzeler, Molly Mroweski, Jeff Oldham & Sue Tierney.

Val Miller pushed the petals for Birthdays & Anniversaries. Julie Miller completed another trip around the sun and Amanda Oparka made it another year with the club. Then the flowers flew — Bill 1st to Steve K, Pres. Jeff to Scott C, Nancy Dedenbach to Julie … Piano Gary to his GF Tina & Ed M & Ken Steele. Ken S supplied one to Kim J & Julie M at his table. Scott got another from Steve K.

Val M announced, in Julie Huttenlocher's Iceland absence, that Turning Point will be receiving our Xmas donations and we are sponsoring three families, so don't be a Scrooge and let Julie know your donation amount or bring a gift to next week's meeting. Val also gave a shout-out to all those who helped out with the Mount Clemens Thanksgiving parade, which were too numerous to list. We also received a $500 contribution to our foundation — WELL DONE TEAM!

Eric P jumped the gun and almost missed Music. Nancy D lead us in “R.O.T.A.R.Y.” Pressed for time Eric fired away — Val's good works bagged her for $5. My trip to Ecuador became $5 more expensive. Newcomer Sam had a $5 welcoming. Piano Gary had a $3 texting faux paux on Thanksgiving. Kim J $2 just because she is Kim, No buck Bill 1st got hit for five bucks for lack of a kill. Bob L two-part prayer $2. Larry Neal's late arrival plea "I was on Rotary business" didn't buy any credibility $3.

It was a pleasure for the board to grant our recipients the following amounts:

Crocker House $3K, McRest $3K, Wertz Warriors $3K, Interfaith Center for Racial Justice $3K, Rotary International $6K, Comprehensive Services $7K, Bravo House $11K (Julie Miller), Turning Point $16K (Karan Bates-Gasior), McLaren Health Foundation $18K (Louise Rallis & Kim Jarvis) and Mount Clemens YMCA $18K (Steve K). Both Louise and Steve were extremely grateful and thankful of our generous contributions to the community, which are in such great need. Steve K had a Y member speak as to the impact that the Y has on her and her health and well-being. On a sad note, Steve is leaving to move to a new YMCA in Bay City. Steve is grateful for his time in the community and his Rotary spirit and vitality will be missed by all.

We can all be grateful for all of our many blessings...our home, family, clothes and comfortable life.  There are many people who live in a state of uncertainty and fear. This Christmas, I would ask each of you to help contribute our Rotary Giving Tree for Turning Point. This year we are helping three families that need some of the most basic items that we take for granted.

I have attached a link below to a sign up genius if you would like to buy a gift.  If you would prefer to have our Rotary Elves shop for you (to avoid the supply chain frustrations), that would be great. Just simply let me know how much we should charge your bill and we will take care of buying, wrapping and delivering the gifts for you!  If you want to buy the gifts and do not want to wrap them, please bring them to Rotary on 12/9 or the Christmas party on 12/15 and I will wrap them for you!

I know you get pulled in many directions at Christmas, but please contribute to this worthwhile cause...$75, $100, $150 or more will go a long way in helping us make these peoples' lives a little more special this holiday season.

We ask that all gifts are turned in at the meeting on 12/9 or the Christmas party
or can be dropped off at my house!

Thank you in advance for being so generous!
